College in Putney plans for new technology building

Posted: Updated:
PUTNEY, Vt. -

A new $10 million science, technology and innovation center is in the works at Landmark College in Putney.

It will be the first new academic building since the school opened in 1985 to serve students with learning disabilities like dyslexia. School officials are confident they will have the financing to break ground on the 29,000-square-foot building in August.

"This building will be at the head of the quad, as you pull into campus you will see this building. Of course like any new building of a college campus it will speak volumes as to where that college is at that time and ours, we take risks, we do what's needed for students because of our powerful mission," said Peter Eden, the president of Landmark College.

The school is $2 million away from reaching its $7 million fundraising goal and with financing the remaining $3 million for the building. There are 500 students at the school. It recently became a four-year college.
