Why thousands of chicks are chirping in NH

Posted: Updated:

It sounded a lot like spring in WestLebanon Thursday. That's because it was Chick Day.

West Lebanon Feed and Supply got itsfirst shipment of the season-- 2,000 baby chicks. Store owner Curt Jacques sayshe expects to sell around 11,000 chicks this year, almost double last year'srecord.

"More people aregetting into raising their own birds. They love the eggs, the fresh eggs andtheir meat that they know they raise themselves," Jacques said.

Jacques says these babychicks already have owners, but additional batches are coming in May, June andJuly.
