About 30 years ago Steve Clifford was suiting up for his dad at North Country Union High School. Tonight, he is suiting up as the head coach of the NBA's Charlotte bobcats. Clifford has been simply remarkable in his first year at the helm. He's in the hunt to win coach of the year after leading the Bobcats to just their second postseason birth in the franchise's ten year history. His family and friends from throughout New England will be on hand to see him coach against the hometown Celtics. That could make a first year coach very nervous, but Clifford isn't just any first year coach. He has over 30 years of experience between college and the pros, so for him it's just another night at the office.
"Being in the NBA is something you can't take for granted," Clifford said. "But this is also my 14th year coming here. It doesn't get old or anything, but it's a world I've lived in a long time. They (family) have been coming here 13 or 14 years here too. Again, it doesn't get old, but it's what we've been doing a few years now."
