EVANS, N.Y. (AP) - State police say a 36-year-old Vermont man has been charged with firing a handgun during a road rage incident on the Thruway in western New York.
Troopers say a 60-year-old man from Brantford, Ontario told 911 dispatchers that a passenger in a pickup truck fired shots out the window after their vehicles nearly collided Sunday in the town of Evans, south of Buffalo.
Police pulled the pickup over and took three people into custody.
A passenger, James Henderson II of Hancock, Vt., was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment and menacing.
The Canadian told troopers he tossed a can of soda at the pickup when it cut him off, then heard two gunshots. Police found a pistol loaded with 14 bullets inside the truck.
It couldn't be determined if Henderson has a lawyer.
