Plattsburgh airport adds service to Atlantic City

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -

A new destination for flights out of Plattsburgh International Airport.

Beginning next week, Plattsburgh will have charter flights directly to Atlantic City in New Jersey. The airline Republic Airways will be providing the new service. They are under contract from the Atlantic City casino Caesar's World.

According to the North Country Chamber of Commerce, this just adds to Plattsburgh's reputation of being the fun, vacation destination airport.

"Once a month, kind of a three-day trip, you go down, you spend three days and you get the flight back... through the end of summer. And then we'll see how it's doing. It's possible it might return the next year; it's possible we might get more frequency. So they're testing the market," said Garry Douglas of the North Country Chamber of Commerce.

Douglas also says terminal expansion plans for Plattsburgh International Airport are still underway. He says he hopes the airport will have international flights by this time next year.
