New Plattsburgh to Atlantic City flights take off

Posted: Updated:
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - You can now fly nonstop from Plattsburgh to Atlantic City. The new flights out of the Plattsburgh airport started on a trial basis Wednesday.

One of the big casinos in Atlantic City is offering the low-fare, mid-week flights, once a month, throughout the summer.

The Chamber of Commerce in Plattsburgh says its surveys show Atlantic City as a big draw, especially for many Canadians.

"As far as destinations are concerned, Atlantic City is always one of the top ones that we get requests for. When are you going, how do we get there? So it was really exciting that Caesars Entertainment came on board with that destination," said Kristy Kennedy of the North Country Chamber of Commerce.

The $299 deal includes round trip airfare and three nights at Harrah's Resort. The first flight Wednesday was sold out. The Chamber says if it's successful, the casino will likely continue the flights.

The new service will help make up for the loss of direct flights from Plattsburgh to Las Vegas that ended last month.
