SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. - Deer hunters in Vermont will be able to take antlerless deer again next season under a proposal endorsed by the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Board.

State biologists recommended the move based on growth in the deer population thanks to relatively mild winters the last few years. Under the plan, antlerless permits will be available for the archery and muzzleloader seasons.

In all seasons last year, hunters in Vermont killed just more than 14,000 deer, slightly above the 10-year average.
