Shooting death investigation in Essex Jct.

ESSEX JUNCTION, Vt. -

An Essex Junction man is dead after a late night shooting.

Police say 44-year-old Kryn Miner died of a gunshot wound at his Essex Junction home late Friday night. Saturday evening, police continue to investigate and are releasing few details.

"I think anytime that you have a shooting it's a tragedy and I think it's fair to say this is a tragic event," said Chittenden County State's Attorney T.J. Donovan.

Donovan says he hopes they'll be able to release more information on Monday. Other sources tell us the incident stems from a domestic dispute and is not a suicide. Investigators who spoke to us on the condition of anonymity call it a complicated case to piece together. We're told the shooter is a family member of the deceased, and may have acted in self-defense. Miner was an active member of the Vermont Army National guard.

In 2010, the Chief Warrant Officer deployed to Afghanistan with the 86th infantry brigade combat team. Police have say there's no danger to the public that may indicate all of those involved in the deadly shooting are known to investigators.
