Shumlin to address opiate addiction at DC forum

Governor Peter Shumlin is schedule to leave Vermont Monday afternoon and travel to Washington.

According to his office, the Governor will speak at a forum hosted by Senators from Ohio and Rhode Island. The topic is criminal justice and addiction. The Governor's number one priority this session has been fighting Vermont's opiate addiction which has created national headlines.

Lt. Governor Phil Scott will become acting Governor while Shumlin is out of state.

Later in the week, the Governor is scheduled to address Vermont's hard winter which has created havoc on the highways with a pothole problem.

Here are the details of Gov. Peter Shumlin's public schedule for the week of Sunday April 27th as released by his office.

Sunday, April 27

1:00 p.m. Attend Vermont Maple Festival and participate in annual parade, St. Albans

Monday, April 28

8:00 a.m. Speak to the Northeast Kingdom Chamber of Commerce, St. Johnsbury House, Main Street, St. Johnsbury

Tuesday, April 29

9:30 a.m. Speak at Addiction & Criminal Justice Forum, Hosted by Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH) and Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI)
