VINS hires new executive director

Posted: Updated:

The Vermont Institute of Natural Science is getting a new executive director.

Charles Rattigan spent a good part of his career producing a natural history television program for Public Broadcasting Service called "Bird Watch." He has also done a number of projects with National Geographic. Now, Rattigan is taking over the top spot at VINS, which is dedicated to educating the public on the outside world, something Rattigan is passionate about.

"And in reality, our appreciation and love of nature is guided by wild things. We would be diminished as human beings without that kind of interaction and without being able to see these beautiful creatures," said Rattigan.

Rattigan is the co-founder of Woodstock based Green Mountain Digital, which publishes digital field guides for the outdoors. He also serves on the boards of Audubon Vermont and Woodstock Community Television.
