BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont man charged with providing alcohol to a teenager who was killed in an ATV crash last year has been sentenced to six months in prison.
Police say Kent Richland, 27, of Shelburne, pressured a friend to buy a bottle of gin for Clinton Norris, a 16-year-old Champlain Valley Union High School student. Norris was later found unconscious near his home in Hinesburg after taking out the ATV for a drive last May. He was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
Richland was convicted in March.
The Burlington Free Press reports Richland's attorney, Timothy Fair, said the case would be appealed to the state supreme court. He said there wasn't enough evidence to prove the gin played a part in Norris' death.
