Out with the old

Posted: Updated:
RUTLAND, Vt. - It's out with the old and in with the new for the Rutland Police Department. Check out one of the two re-badged Ford Explorers the department now has as part of their fleet. They also have 1 sedan. The new models are taking the place of the Crown Victorias - which Ford stopped producing in 2011. The vehicles have many features that will help them protect the Marble City - especially all-wheel drive, that they say will be a big plus during Vermont's tough winters.

"Getting around in the previous versions of the Crown Victoria that were rear wheel drive, was a challenge sometimes, sometimes even just getting into our parking lot," said Sgt. John Sly of the Rutland Police Dept.

The department tells us they plan to gradually replace all of their Crown Victorias with the new vehicles.
