Windham County receives money to help with Vermont Yankee closing

WINDHAM, Vt. - A plan is underway to distribute money to Windham County to make up for the closing of Vermont Yankee.

Entergy Nuclear the parent company of Vermont Yankee agreed to pay $10 million more than five years for economic development. The money will be used to fund job retention and creation. The application process will start this summer.

Commerce secretary Lawrence Miller says he'd like to see the first $500,000 released by the end of the year.
