LEBANON, N.H. -

Police say they made a big heroin bust in Lebanon.

Monday, detectives arrested Shawn Whitlock, 27, of New Jersey, and Brandon Lemere, 32, of Lebanon.

Police say Whitlock was in possession of more than 1,400 bags of heroin with an estimated street value of $29,000.

"It certainly is an epidemic. For anyone who has been following this story on the news over the past few months, in Vermont or New Hampshire, it's been happening everywhere. What we are trying to do is one day at a time at our level. Just follow up case by case and keep making the arrests. Hopefully it will slow down but it hasn't yet," Lebanon Deputy Police Chief Phil Roberts said.

Whitlock is charged with felony intent to distribute and as a fugitive from justice on an outstanding warrant.

Lemere is also charged with intent to distribute.
