BURLINGTON, Vt. - Governor Peter Shumlin is poised to sign a bill that extends universal pre-kindergarten programs for 3- and 4-year-olds. The total number of children who would take advantage of the program is expected to be about 6,000 or about 60 percent of the Vermont's preschool-aged children.

Robyn Freedner-Maguire is with Let's Grow Kids, a group which is trying to raise awareness of the importance of the earliest years in the lives of Vermont's children.
