LYNDONVILLE, Vt. - A Lyndonville man pleaded not guilty to abusing his horses.

In March, Bruce Bona handed over 21 horses from the Bona Ranch to a rescue group. Authorities say some of the horses were reportedly near death and were standing in over a foot of manure. At least three horses were found dead on the property, covered up with debris.

Tuesday, Bona pleaded not guilty to 21 counts of animal cruelty.
