A ban on using your cell phone while driving is expected to become law in Vermont.
House and Senate members were able to reach a compromise that would make using a hand-hold device behind the wheel a primary offense. It's passed the house and is likely to pass in the senate Thursday. Drivers would face increased fines for repeat offenses. Governor Shumlin had raised concerns about a ban.
However says he will support the measure because it does not include insurance points for drivers. If signed into law the ban would go into effect October 1st.
