Scheuermann won't run for Vermont governor

MONTPELIER, Vt. -

One of the Republicans weighing a campaign for governor of Vermont has decided not to run.

State Representative Heidi Scheuermann of Stowe announced in March that she was considering challenging Democrat Peter Shumlin in the November election.

But Scheuermann says now that this is not the right time for her to run. She says she will instead run for re-election to her seat in the Legislature.

That leaves travel agency owner Scott Milne as the other Republican considering a campaign. He announced his interest just Monday.
