Historic building restored in Poultney

Posted: Updated:

Green Mountain College sent their students off on their futures today, while also celebrating Poultney's history. Senator Patrick Leahy formally opened the renovated Bentley Hall Saturday.

The Queen Anne-Colonial Revival house was built in 1900 and recently underwent a large renovation project. Leahy says as students take off on their journeys, preserving history is more important than ever.

"A wonderful way to create jobs because you need people to know how to do historic preservation, but when you get done, you've got something worth keeping. You keep the heritage," said Sen. Leahy.

The college owned building will serve as a joint community center for the town of Poultney and the College.
