Protest over absentee ballots in BTV re-vote

Posted: Updated:
BURLINGTON, Vt. - Some Burlington officials are criticizing a decision on absentee ballots for the city's upcoming school budget re-vote.

Voters rejected the school budget on Town Meeting Day and will consider a new spending plan on June 3rd. But residents who voted by absentee ballot the first time around won't automatically be sent absentee ballots this time.
Two school board members and a city councilor are calling on the mayor to reconsider, citing an opinion from the Secretary of State's office that a budget re-vote is a continuation of the original election.
