WESTMINSTER, Vt. (AP) - Vermont is planning for a new $6.2 million State Police barracks in Westminster.
The state has filed a permit application for the 16,000 square-foot project.
The Brattleboro Reformer reports state police want to shut down the outdated and inefficient barracks in Brattleboro and Rockingham and consolidate all the troopers in the single station in Westminster.
State officials started looking for alternate sites along the Interstate 91 corridor in 2007. A location near Exit 5 was determined to be the best place.
