Dump truck pulling trailer slides off road

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. - An accident near the Enfield-Lebanon town line shut down a road for most of Monday.

A dump truck carrying asphalt and pulling a larger trailer lost control on Methodist Hill Road just before 10 a.m. The truck slid off the road and partially down a steep embankment and was only stopped by the trailer. It did prevent any traffic from getting through.

"Lost control of it, tried to back it down. Ended up going in the ditch. The driver is not injured, the truck is full of asphalt. That is the only thing we are worried about.  That and the fuel leak," said Jeff Cummings from Enfield Fire Dept.

The road re-opened just before 4 p.m.
