Petition started against Collins for superintendent in Rutland Northeast

Posted: Updated:
BRANDON, Vt. - Residents in the Brandon area have started an online petition drive in hopes of stopping the Rutland Northeast Supervisory Union from hiring Jeanne Collins as its new superintendent.

Collins was forced to resign from her job as Burlington superintendent last week in connection with the district's multimillion-dollar budgeting problems.

Word came out this week that Collins is already in line for the Rutland Northeast job, and is in fact the only finalist currently under consideration.

The organizers of the petition are requesting the Rutland Northeast board reopen the search. They say hiring Collins would be "willfully negligent at best and ethically intolerable at worst."
