Lots of accidents in Chittenden County Wednesday

Posted: Updated:

It was a dangerous day on the roads of Chittenden County Wednesday with a slew of crashes.

In Burlington, police say a minivan hit a pedestrian at the intersection of Battery and Monroe Streets. Battery Street was shut down for about an hour. The pedestrian was hospitalized with minor injuries. No charges are expected.

In South Burlington, Dorset Street was backed up for a crash near the newly opened Trader Joe's. On Interstate 89, a flying couch cushion caused a two-car crash northbound near exit 16. Troopers say a driver swerved to avoid the cushion and collided with another vehicle. Four people were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

State police say a Williston mom and her 14-month-old baby are lucky to be alive. Their car flipped five times on I-89 near exit 13. Police say the woman slammed on her brakes to avoid a merging truck. Troopers are looking for the driver of the truck.
