Show of support for injured UVM police officer

Posted: Updated:
BURLINGTON, Vt. -

A show of support Thursday night from local law enforcement for an injured University of Vermont police officer.

Officer Christopher Wetmore was seriously injured during a motorcycle crash at Police Week in Washington, D.C., earlier this month. Thursday night he came home to Vermont with a blue light escort along Shelburne Road. Dozens of first responders were there to take him to Fanny Allen for rehab.

UVM Sgt. Jim Phelps told us it's the first time in his 25 years that he's had an injured officer.

Because it was an off-the-job injury, they've set up a fund to help pay for his recovery. That's at: http://www.youcaring.com/medical-fundraiser/wetmore-or-less-recovery-fund/180809
