Police: Smooth day at marathon

Posted: Updated:
BURLINGTON, Vt. - The Burlington Police say this years Keybank Vermont City Marathon went off without any major security or medical complications.

It's the second year that the marathon instituted new security policies following the Boston Marathon bombing.  Officials say there were a few instances where unidentified bags were confiscated, but in most cases the bags' owners were nearby.
Fire officials say more than 30 runners were treated for various heat exhaustion and dehydration issues. Five ended up being transported to the hospital for heat stroke, and one for cardiac issues.
