This Sunday is the 2nd Annual Plattsburgh Biggest Loser Run-Walk. The Plattsburgh Recreation Center runs a Biggest Loser program and will be hosting the event.
Fifteen-thousand runners and walkers from 22 states will be participating. The race is a 5K and a half-marathon run-walk. City Hall in downtown Plattsburgh will be the start and finish line. A couple of past participants from the show will also be in attendance.
"Kind of put Plattsburgh on the map as far as a recreation destination that we all really know that it is. From cycling to running, the lake opportunities, the mountains, all the things we have around us. So it kind of helps showcase that to the rest of the country," said Steve Peters, the superintendent of recreation.
The estimated cost of the run-walk will be around $10,000, but the city expects to make a profit with the amount of people staying in Plattsburgh for the event.?
