Doheny's campaign to focus on job creation

Posted: Updated:
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - Matt Doheny, a Republican congressional candidate in New York, stopped by Plattsburgh Friday.

Doheny is running for New York's 21st District, the seat currently occupied by Bill Owens, D-New York. Doheny says he's decided to run for a third time, since Owens announced his retirement. Doheny lost to Owens in 2010 and 2012.

Doheny's appearance in Plattsburgh included a radio interview and a visit to a senior home. Doheny says his campaign is focused on jobs.

“Job creation. I understand how challenging it is to keep and create jobs. I've saved and created tens of thousands of jobs in my decade-long business. So that is number one, to create the environment where economic growth and opportunity can happen and happen right here," said Doheny.

Doheny says his local roots and his business experience are what make him a good choice for the congressional seat. He faces Elise Stefanik in the Republican Primary June 24.
