The Redneck Road Race Walk/Run at the Danville School. Participants can signup the day of the race until 8:45 a.m. and it starts at 9 a.m.. Profession Wrestling Hall of Famer Paul "Butcher" Vachon will be selling and signing his books. All proceeds from the race will benefit Autism Speaks.


In Addison County, there's the Boot Scootin' Boogie Barn Dance! It's from 7pm - 11pm at the Champlain Valley Alpacas Wedding Barn in Bridport. All the money raised will be donated to ALS research in memory of Randy Steady.


The Cupcake Crusade and Community Remembrance will raise money for local cancer patients and local cancer research. There's a cupcake competition, dunking booth, food venders, musical entertainment and a remembrance candle lighting ceremony at the end of the evening. That's at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The community remembrance is after 6 p.m. until it gets dark.


It's the peak of bird migration season -- and Saturday, you can join fellow birders at Birdfest at the North Branch Nature Center in Montpelier. It's the third year of the event, which includes bird walks, banding demos, kids' activities and meeting live birds like hawks and owls. This year, they're having people help them assemble boxes for kestrels to live in. Those are small falcons. People can either donate them to the nature center or pay a small fee to take them home. That's from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. It's $10 for adults and free for the kids.

The New England Tree-Climbing Championship is happening at Oakledge Park in Burlington starting at 7 a.m. There will be competitions in various climbing categories that people can watch, plus a kid's climb from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a $5 suggested donation.
