Shriners make a stop at Teddy Bear Co.

SHELBURNE, Vt. - Shriners Hospitals are entering their 90th year. They celebrated the milestone with a stop in Burlington Sunday.

The Vermont Teddy Bear Company welcomed the hospitals' national caravan. The mission is to raise $130 million dollars for the construction of a new children's hospital in Montreal. The stop was part of a 66 day cross-continent trip that will include 55 stops along the way.

"They're making a trip from Newfoundland to British Colombia for the purpose of raising money for Shriners Hospitals for Children, and particularly the new hospital they're building in Montreal," said Mt. Sinai #3 Potentate Bruce Pelletier.

"They'll be stopping in every Canadian province, plus the Northeast U.S here," added Mt. Sinai #3's  Jerry Morong.

Some of the funds raised will also go toward research. The size of the new hospital will be nearly double the size of the current facilities.
