It's now easier for Vermonters to get into the fast lane at the Canadian Border.
Congressman Peter Welch, D-Vermont showed up at the Customs and Border Protection office in South Burlington Monday morning equipped with the identification he would need to secure a Nexus card.
Cardholders can avoid long lines when crossing the Canadian border as well as move faster through security at many airports across the country.
Previously, you had to go to Champlain, New York to get one. Now there are several satellite offices in Vermont ready to process applications.
"So, folks who have used this just sail thru the border crossing and it's really simple. So obviously people who are traveling on a regular basis, it totally makes a difference," said Welch.
