GULFORD, Vt. (AP) - A special state designation in a Vermont community could make it easier for it to preserve historic buildings.
The Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development has awarded "village center designation" to Guilford Center to protect its historic core.
The Brattleboro Reformer reports the designation includes some businesses and residences and the Broad Brook Grange, the old brick schoolhouse, library, meeting house, historical society and the Mineral Springs Farm.
The properties are eligible for historic and improvement tax credits and other benefits.
