Judge rules BT employee acted in good faith

Posted: Updated:
BURLINGTON, Vt. -

Burlington taxpayers challenged a key city employee in court over Burlington Telecom and a judge decided against taxpayers.

The taxpayers challenged former Chief Administrative Officer Jonathan Leopold over his decision to take $17 million from city coffers and use it to prop up Burlington Telecom.

But Judge Helen Toor's decision Tuesday says that the taxpayers failed to make their case and that Leopold did not act in bad faith and that he shifted the millions to BT "with the best interests of the City in mind."

The taxpayers in the suit tells WCAX they are strongly considering an appeal.
