Video released of Vt. woman approaching officer with knife

Posted: Updated:
RUTLAND, Vt. - Newly released police surveillance video shows a Vermont woman, later acquitted of attempted murder approaching a police officer from behind with a knife.

The woman in the video is 40-year-old Jennifer Berube walking up to Officer Damon Nguyen with a 2 inch knife as he works at his desk at the Rutland City Police Department.

This video was taken in December 2012, when Berube was in police custody after she and her husband had been arrested for allegedly using a stolen credit card.

Berube convinced a jury in Rutland Criminal Court Friday, who viewed this video during the trial, that she was only trying to "scare" Officer Nguyen, not kill him.

Nguyen suffered a cut to his jugular vein and after being treated, returned to work.

The video is courtesy of Rutalnd Police Department.
