Car accident shutdown Rt. 2 in Colchester

Posted: Updated:
COLCHESTER, Vt. - Police say a two-car crash shutdown Route 2 in Colchester for about 90 minutes Friday.

This was the scene near Jasper Mine and Raymond Roads. Police say just before 5 p.m. two cars collided. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts but the crash left them trapped in their vehicles. 44-year-old Rebecca Dion-Smith of Colchester and 25-year-old Devlin Koski of South Hero were taken to the hospital with lower body injuries.

A child properly restrained in the backseat of  Dion-Smith's car was not hurt.

Police are still investigating the crash but say speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors.
