Prosecutors: Bennington officer cleared in station shooting

BENNINGTON, Vt. -

Prosecutors say a Bennington police officer who shot a man with a knife inside the station did not do anything wrong.

In April, police say 42-year-old Gregory Filo refused to drop the knife he was carrying and Sgt. Michael Plusch opened fire, wounding him.

State's Attorney Erica Marthage says, an investigation by her office cleared Plusch. But, a separate investigation by the Attorney General's office is still going on.

Filo has pleaded not guilty to two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
