Newhan, Monsters Arrive in Burlington

Posted: Updated:
BURLINGTON, Vt. - Another wet welcome to Burlington for the Vermont Lake Monsters. The team made its first appearance at Centennial Field Wednesday afternoon to showers and a tarp on the infield.  Rain drops however, did not interfere with the players getting their pictures taken for the center field video board.

The Monsters kick off the their twenty first season, and fourth as an Oakland A's affiliate, Friday at Lowell.  For the first time in three seasons, the team will have a new manager.  David Newhan spent the last 3 seasons in the San Diego organization as a minor league hitting coach. Prior to that job, he played eight seasons in the majors with five different teams.

"I think I had the ability to connect with the clubhouse as a player," Newhan said.  "Hopefully that can continue to resonate, connect with these guys, build relationships and build value with them."

The Lake Monsters home opener is Monday June, 16th.
