Rutland radio personality running for state Senate

RUTLAND, Vt. -

A longtime Rutland County radio personality is off the air because he's running for state Senate.

WSYB's Brian Collamore announced Wednesday he would be stepping down from his role as a morning show host. Collamore has worked as a broadcaster at local radio stations for over 42 years and says that experience has given him the opportunity to interact with people in Rutland County and learn what their concerns are.

He's running as a Republican, but wants people to know he is a moderate and he hopes to reach across the aisle and work on economic issues.

"Jobs is the number one thing that I think everybody faces regardless of where they live, but especially in Rutland County and I would hope to be able to find creative ways to attract new business to the area which would give us well-paying jobs," said Collamore.

Collamore will continue his role as general sales manager at the radio station and if he is elected, plans to re-evaluate how involved he will be able to be at work. Eldred French and Kevin Mullin are also on the ballot.
