We have some fun ideas for what to do on Saturday, June 14, 2014.

FREE FISHING DAY

If you've always wanted to try fishing or you want to introduce your kids to the outdoor activity, today is your day in Vermont! Vermont's free fishing day is the one day in the summer when anyone can go fishing without a fishing license.

The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department is having a special event just for kids in Grand Isle from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Ed Weed Fish Culture Station.

They offer kids basic fishing tips and the chance to catch big trout in a pond next to the hatchery.

FLAG DAY CONCERT

Celebrate the start of summer at the 3rd annual Monkton Flag Day concert at the Rec Field! That's start at 5:30 p.m. and is great for kids - just pack some snacks! There are also other Flag Day ceremonies at the Bennington and Hubbarton historic sites.

BARNYARD & FOREST EXPLORATION

A Barnyard & Forest Exploration is perfect for kids three and up with a stop at Sallie's Sheep Farm. Meet at 1 p.m. at the Mill Trail Cabin in Stowe.

WOMEN'S ROAD RIDE

Just for the ladies out there ... A Women's Road Ride starts at 9 a.m. at Onion River Sports in Montpelier. It's free and open to beginners.

WARBLERS, WOODS & WATERSHEDS

A ranger-led hike covers the basics of monitoring birds, salamanders, forest health and water quality. Meet at Prosper Road parking lot in Woodstock at 10 a.m.
