A graduation day surprise

Posted: Updated:
ESSEX, Vt. -

At her graduation from Essex High School, Taylor St. Cyr is getting a gift she did not see coming.

"Unbeknownst to her we have got her brother, who is a marine stationed in Camp Pendleton in San Diego, California. He is going to surprise her and walk up on stage and give her her diploma," says Stacy Contois, Taylor's mother.

Shayne St. Cyr is hiding under the bleachers beneath the ceremony. Taylor thinks he was unable to make it to her graduation.

"At first I was told I wouldn't be able to come out here, and when I found out I could I was like why not surprise her. And then I told my mom about it and she came up with all these ideas of what to do and how to do it," says Shayne, Taylor's brother.

Taylor's disappointment of her brother not being able to attend her high school graduation suddenly turned to delight. As soon as she set eyes on her brother, they started to fill with tears.

"I saw him and I was just so happy and I just started crying. I was just so happy, I don't know, it was just... I couldn't help but cry. Overjoyed, I guess you could say," says Taylor.

The siblings will be able to spend about a week together to celebrate Taylor's graduation, before Shayne heads back to California.
