2nd suspect in Springfield shooting held without bail
WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. (AP) - A New Hampshire man is being held without bail after pleading not guilty to charges stemming from shooting in Springfield, Vermont.
Court document say 33-year-old Jabbar Chandler of Charlestown joined Leon Jiggetts of Newark, New Jersey, and a 16-year-old at an apartment in Springfield last week to confront Joseph Atkinson about rumors of stolen money from drug deals.
Police say Atkinson was shot after the three forced their way into the apartment.
Jiggetts pleaded not guilty last week to attempted murder and other charges. He's also being held without bail.
The Eagle Times reports a prosecutor said Chandler pleaded not guilty to charges of assault and unlawful trespassing. He was held without bail after a prosecutor said he had 13 prior felony convictions out of New Jersey.
