Reward offered in East Haven arson fire

Posted: Updated:

EAST HAVEN, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police say a reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest in an arson fire at an unoccupied cabin in the Northeast Kingdom town of East Haven.

The fire was called in on June 5 by a neighbor who spotted it during a walk.

When firefighters arrived the cabin was mostly burned out and only smoldering. No one was injured.

The fire is estimated to have caused more than $50,000 in damage.

Vermont State Police were asked Wednesday to investigate the cause and origin of the fire. On Thursday investigators determined that the fire was intentionally set.

Anyone with information about the fire is asked to call the Arson Tip Line at 1-800-32-ARSON or the Vermont State Police.
