MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire Republican candidate for governor Walt Havenstein says he's "delighted" that New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is visiting the state to campaign for him.

Havenstein also says he doesn't think there's any risk of campaigning with Christie, whose administration has been dogged by a bridge shutdown scandal for months. Hours ahead of a Friday evening appearance with Christie in Manchester, Havenstein said the governor acted swiftly by firing staffers involved.

Christie, a potential presidential candidate in 2016, is making his first visit to the first-primary state since the bridge scandal.

Christie, chairman of the Republican Governors Association, will preside over an RGA finance meeting, and then join Havenstein at T-Bones restaurant in Bedford. He'll finish the visit with a private fundraiser in Atkinson.

Havenstein faces Andrew Hemingway in a primary to take on incumbent Democrat Maggie Hassan.
