Woman files lawsuit against ex-police chief

Posted: Updated:
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - A woman who accused the former police chief in New London, New Hampshire, of offering to drop a drinking charge against her if she posed for nude pictures has filed a lawsuit against him and the town.

David Seastrand resigned as the New London police chief in April 2013, a month after Janelle Westfall said Seastrand offered to drop the charge if she posed for him.

The attorney general's office said the allegations were disturbing, but didn't rise to the level of criminal conduct.

The lawsuit filed Thursday in Merrimack County Superior Court says Seastrand "manipulated the criminal justice process for his own prurient ends." It seeks unspecified damages.

Seastrand's lawyer, Nicolas Brodich, couldn't be reached to comment. Town Administrator Kimberly Hallquis said she hadn't seen the lawsuit yet.
