Police: I-91 accident caused by drunk driver

Posted: Updated:
SPRINGFIELD, Vt. - Three people, including a four-year-old boy and a five-year-old girl, were hospitalized following a nasty crash on I-91 in Springfield Sunday night.

Police say just before 10 p.m., 26-year old Katie Schulenberger of Langdon, New Hampshire, was driving northbound when she lost control and went into the median.  Officials say the car flipped onto its side and smashed into a tree. The two children and Schulenberger were trapped inside. They say the kids were not wearing seatbelts.  All three were taken to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. Police say one child had a compound fracture to the foot and the other sustained 'non-incapacitating' injuries -- both are expected to recover.  Police say Schulenberger was drunk and will face criminal charges including child endangerment.

The northbound lane of I-91 near mile marker 46 was closed down late Sunday while crews cleaned up the scene.
