BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) - The village of Old Bennington, Vermont, is thanking its longest-serving trustee for 40 years of service.
The Bennington Banner reports Arnold Ricks was honored Sunday with the dedication of a stone bench near the Old First Church. Several dozen residents paid for it.
The 90-year-old Ricks taught history at Bennington College for 10 years before buying a house in town in 1972 and becoming a trustee. He retired this spring.
Ricks says he will now focus on some family projects related to the history of the Quakers.
