NH Marine killed in Afghanistan

Posted: Updated:
BOSTON - Family and friends are remembering a New Hampshire Marine killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan.

Nineteen year-old Brandon Garabrant finished high school in Peterborough early so he could start boot camp. He was a volunteer firefighter in neighboring Temple. Garabrant made headlines last year when his high school wouldn't let him wear his uniform to graduation. His mom is still in disbelief.

"The moment he was born I knew he was going to do something in the military. He was just so patriotic," said Jessie Evans, Garabrant's mother. "I knew it was always a possibility but I didn't expect it so soon."

"He went off with such gusto. We gave him a big party, and I called him my B-man and he's just such a great guy and he just did think he was invincible," said Isabella Martin, a friend of Garabrant.

Two other U.S. service members also died in Friday's attack.
