Burlington park hosts new food festival

BURLINGTON, Vt. -

There's a new festival coming to the Queen City.

Higher Ground and The Skinny Pancake are sponsoring EATxNE (Eat by Northeast) at Oakledge Park in September. Organizers say they have two goals to create a festival for people to eat, drink, listen, learn and at the same time raise money for local food nonprofits including Slow Food Vermont, the Intervale Center and the Vermont Community Garden Network.

"We thought there was a real absence of a specific local food festival that is consumer oriented...there wasn't really a strong voice saying we are leaders in local food here in Vermont and hear us roar," said Benjy Adler from The Skinny Pancake

EATxNE runs September 19 through the 21. Some events require tickets others are free.
