New food truck in the Queen City

BURLINGTON, Vt. -

There's a group of young chefs cooking up their very best for a local nonprofit.

The Burlington School Food Project and Dealer.com have launched a new food truck in Oakledge Park.

The Fork in the Road food truck features nine menu items students call classic concessions with a Vermont twist. The truck was also painted by local artists. The goal is to raise 10,000 dollars this year for the Burlington School food project. The ten young chefs received training from the Burlington Technical Center and are learning real world culinary skills.

"Number one we want students to have a greater connection with their food and to understand that being in a kitchen and making food isn’t an intimidating thing and that there are a lot of wonderful career opportunities in the food world," said Sarah Heusner, with the Burlington School Food Project.

You can find the truck in Oakledge Park throughout the summer.
