HUNTINGTON, Vt. - The investigation continues Monday into the latest death at the Huntington Gorge.

The body of a woman was pulled from the popular swimming hole Sunday night. The victim is a white woman in her mid 30's to late 40's. Police did not immediately know her identity or the circumstances surrounding her death.

Police say they are following up on tips and they believe they now know the name of the woman but they are awaiting the results of an autopsy before disclosing it.

Richmond Police Chief Alan Buck said that he thought the person pulled from the Gorge likely committed suicide. The medical examiner has found no evidence of physical trauma. The Chief also believes the person hitchhiked to the area.

The Huntington Gorge has claimed at least 23 lives since 1950, mostly in swimming or diving accidents. It's unclear whether this was a swimming-related death.
